our staff

  • Rev. Aaron Gray, Pastor

Pastor Aaron Gray began his ministry with CUMC on July 1, 2019. Most recently he has been serving the Redlands United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, CO. Pastor Gray is familiar with the Colorado front range as he grew up in Denver. He and his wife LouAn are parents to two young adults.

Pastor Gray has a great sense of humor, is kind and approachable, and says “it’s all about the people”. We are excited to be serving Christ with him as he continues his ministry with us.

  • Cori Rice, Children's Ministry Director

Cori was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. She graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in 2009 and has been a member at Christ United Methodist Church since 1995. Cori has been working with children since she was a teenager and has helped teach children's bible studies as well. She is active in the  church community and loves to help out wherever she can.

Cori loves to read, is an avid Chicago Bears fan, and loves to watch hockey. She is married to her husband, Jake, for about seven years and they weathered the military lifestyle for four years. They have a rambunctious young son and an adorable but equally rambunctious young daugher. Cori loves family camping trips, fishing, and hiking.

  • Kevin Utter, Organist

Kevin Utter received his Bachelors and masters of Music in Organ Performance from Colorado State University in 1985/1989 respectively, studying with Robert Cavarra. He has been with Christ United Methodist Church since August of 1995. He has been a church musician from the age of 8, playing for traditional and contemporary services, accompanying choirs and soloists, and providing other special music. He is equally comfortable with the organ, piano, and electronic keyboards and synthesizers, and also sings and plays the theremin. He believes music is very important in helping bring people together in worship and communicating truths of God which cannot be expressed in words.

Kevin is married to Valerie and has three children and 2 grandchildren. His guide dog, Bingo, although not a confirmed music critic, is an excellent guide, and has no trouble listening patiently to services and rehearsals.

  • Jean Johnson, Music Director

Jean Johnson earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Music degree from Colorado State University. Jean is the vocal music director at Preston Middle School in the Poudre School District where she teaches choir, co-directs the school musical and serves on the school leadership team. The Preston Middle School Select Choir has made several appearances at the Colorado Music Educators Conference under Jean’s direction. Jean is the Larimer Chorale’s assistant conductor and conducts the Dickens Carolers of the Larimer Chorale. Jean is a mezzo-soprano who has appeared with the Larimer Chorale and the Laudamus Chamber Chorale, as well as at various local venues.

Jean cannot say enough positive things about the Chancel Choir members who have been very welcoming. Their joy of sharing their voices in worship is truly wonderful and makes working with them such a blessing.
