“Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together…but encouraging one another.”
Hebrews 10:24–25
As the summer winds down and the seasons shift, something special happens in churches across the country—Rally Day. For generations, United Methodists have celebrated Rally Day as a time to come back together after the slower, more scattered summer months. Christ United Methodist Church will be celebrating Rally Day on September 7, 2025.
Rally Day is a time to “rally” the church community together—to gather once again in the Spirit of Christ, reenergized and ready to journey together in faith. The tradition dates back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. In the United Methodist Church today, Rally Day continues to serve as an invitation to renew our commitment to Christ and one another. It’s more than a calendar event—it’s a moment of spiritual reset.
Rally Day is often compared to a homecoming. Families return from summer trips, and school schedules begin. We gather in worship to praise God for the season behind us and to look forward in hope for what’s ahead.
It’s also a time for reconnection and recommitment. Rally Day reminds us that we are not meant to walk the path of faith alone. Faith formation is lifelong, and every season of life brings opportunities to grow in Christ.
Ultimately, Rally Day is a call to live our faith in community. It’s a time to ask:
*Where is God calling me to grow this year?
*How can I serve others through the church?
*What new relationships is God inviting me to build?
Join us on September 7th as CUMC rallies together in faith.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Leah
