IMPORTANT: The metal keys that have been signed out will no longer work on the main entrance doors. The keys will continue to work on interior doors.
We are making great progress in implementing a secure access system. The main doors automatically unlock before the scheduled start time of a meeting or event and re-lock after the meeting or event starts. This includes Sunday morning worship. The building will be locked during worship but an usher will be available to let latecomers in.
If you need entrance to the building weekdays (non-holiday) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the building is locked there is a panel by the doors on the east and west sides. On the panel is a doorbell. Ring the doorbell and someone will answer. Regarding holidays, it is important to contact the church office to let them know if your group will meet.
If an evening or weekend group needs early access to make coffee or for setup time, a key fob to unlock the main doors may be signed out from the office. We had a transitional period during the past several weeks to change to the new system. As stated above, the metal keys will no longer work to enter the building. Metal keys will still be usable on locks within the building.
In addition to signing out fobs, we are taking this opportunity to verify keys that have been issued and group contact information for all groups using the church building. We ask that a representative or key holders from each group come to the office to determine the need for a fob and/or a metal key. If that is not possible during office hours, please call to make other arrangements. We will at that time answer any questions about the new system. We ask that you do so as soon as possible.
Part of our mission here at CUMC is to reach out to the community by providing space in our facility to community groups. While maintaining our goal of hospitality and making people feel welcome, we will continue to work on balancing that with security. We welcome your comments as we move forward in the coming year.

The new sanctuary carpet, tile, and pew cushions project is complete. The deeper red carpet and coordinating pew cushions have received many complements. The modern light colored tile under the pews is also garnering very favorable comments. The lighting and sound equipment desk area in the balcony has been updated too, making that area much nicer.
A pergola was built in our "A Place of Peace" on the south end of our lot. It is a result of Quentin Kurtz's Eagle Scout Project. He along with several Scouts, family, and friends participated in the build this past spring. Bloedorn Lumber Company, Philgreen Construction and Krazy Karl's Pizza all donated to the project.
The Fellowship Hall and Kitchen in the upper south end of the building have been painted. Have you seen it yet? Join us for coffee fellowship on Sunday mornings following worship and take a moment to notice our new look.
The storage / coffee area in the downstairs, south end room received a makeover. The walls have been painted and shelves were built. The tubs of supplies that the groups who meet here need have been placed on the shelves.
West wing / preschool tours are available to our members and visitors. Call Molly at 970-226-2341 ext. 123 to schedule a tour.
The two restrooms in the west wing were converted to family restrooms with changing tables. Both restrooms have locks on them to indicate whether the restroom is in use or vacant. This change is necessary because access to the west wing is limited during preschool hours. All other restrooms remain designated for male or female.
The playground is for the use of our preschool, Sunday school, and supervised children of building users.
